Vacancy For Marine Surveyor

The Maritime Administration of Antigua and Barbuda, the Department of Marine Services and Merchant Shipping (ADOMS) has a vacancy for a MARINE SURVEYOR.

This role includes contributing to the realization of the ADOMS’ strategy for maritime safety, security and environmental protection, and supporting the international ship registry and domestic vessel services by carrying out statutory surveys, inspections, audits and enforcement duties.

With a maritime industry background and extensive experience onboard ship, or in a technical capacity, the ideal applicant should have at least a STCW II/2 Master unlimited Certificate of Competency, STCW Chief Engineer III/2 unlimited Certificate of Competency, or an Honours Degree in Naval Architecture.

The successful applicant should have practical ship survey and audit experience, be commercially aware and possess the ability to communicate clearly with all stakeholders including, but not limited to ship-owners from all countries on technical issues.  The position also requires the ability to write clear guidance to customers on the content and interpretations of the technical requirements for ships.  This includes the ability to transfer IMO policy into Flag Circulars.

The job is located in St. John’s and is offered on a contractual basis for an initial three (3) year term which may be extended further. A competitive salary is offered commensurate with experience and skills.
